PLAN YOUR VISIT
The Tokyo Disney Resort App: What It Does and How to Prepare
The official app brings tickets, wait times, maps, reservations and other services together in one place. This guide summarizes what the app is for and what to set up before you travel, based on the resort's official pages.
In short: The Tokyo Disney Resort App combines ticket purchase and park entry, wait times and maps, advance reservations, time-specific services such as Disney Premier Access and Standby Pass, and Mobile Order. Using it requires a MyDisney account. Registering and checking that you can log in before your visit will save time on the day.
What you can do in the app
- Tickets: buy park tickets online. At the entrance, you hold the ticket shown in the app up to the reader.
- Wait times and maps: check wait times for attractions and restaurants, and see your current location. Some functions require location (GPS) to be turned on.
- Advance reservations and entries: request Restaurant Priority Seating, book Show Restaurant meals (a meal combined with a show), and enter for certain shows and character greetings. Priority Seating and Show Restaurant bookings open one month before your visit date.
- Time-specific services: purchase Disney Premier Access (paid) and obtain Standby Pass (free), and check Standby Pass availability.
- Food: use Mobile Order to order from the menus of participating restaurants after you enter the park.
- Shopping: preview merchandise and save favorites, and arrange home delivery for items bought through the app.
- Other features: Disney Photo, online check-in, and groups for sharing tickets and plans.
Features can change or be added over time. Check the app and the official website for the latest details.
What to do before you start using it
- Register a MyDisney account. The app requires registration and login. Registration is done from the “Menu” on the official reservation and purchase pages.
- Check that you can log in. The official preparation checklist advises confirming login in advance so the day goes smoothly.
- Create a group. If you are visiting with others, setting up a group beforehand is recommended. For time-specific services, the group function also lets you validate everyone's tickets together.
- Turn on location settings. Some functions need location (GPS).
- Check your device. The official introduction page states that tablets, including iPad, are not supported.
When you can use each service
According to the official FAQ, app services such as Disney Premier Access and Standby Pass can be purchased, obtained or entered only after you have entered the park.
Restaurant Priority Seating, by contrast, opens one month before your visit date. For same-day requests, online reservations begin at 9:00 a.m. on the day. Show Restaurant reservations are also available from one month before your visit.
Children aged three and under do not need to purchase or obtain these services.
Points that apply to every service
- A service is valid only for the facility and time it specifies.
- Some services do not run on certain days or at certain times. Operations and services can also be cancelled without notice because of system adjustments, weather and other reasons.
- If an operation is cancelled by the facility, a substitute experience may be issued to guests who were waiting.
- If you use several time-specific services or watch a show, make sure the designated times do not overlap.
Get comfortable before the trip
Rather than opening the app for the first time on the day, try it once at home and check that you are logged in and can find the main screens. Review your MyDisney account details, and if you have forgotten the password, deal with it well before you travel.
If you are visiting with others, also learn how tickets and eligible services are shared within the group. If only one person knows how everything works, it becomes difficult when you want to split up or that person's phone has a problem.
When you will use the app during the day
- Before entering: check your tickets and group, and confirm that you can log in.
- In the park: check the map, wait times and facility information to decide where to go next.
- Meals: check the conditions for services such as Mobile Order at the restaurants you are considering.
- Entertainment: check show information and whether entry applications are offered.
- Before leaving: check shop and facility hours to decide where to stop last.
Available features can vary by facility, the day's operating conditions and ticket type. Read the conditions on the screen and the official notices before you commit to a plan, rather than relying only on what the app displays.
Tips for the day
Because you will use the app often, keep your phone charged and consider carrying a portable battery. Connection quality and device settings can slow down screens. If the app does not behave as expected, avoid repeating a purchase or application; check what is shown and your history first, then follow the official guidance.
Button positions and features may change when the app is updated. If what you see differs from an older article or video, do not assume something is broken; the current display in the app takes priority.
